One of the top players in Oregon for the 2018 class is Zack Huffstutter (6-0 195 S/WLB) out of West Linn. He earned honorable mention all conference honors last season during the Lions run to the state title game.
Zack separates himself with his overall athleticism. His showing at the Nike Regional in Seattle a few months back, immediately put him in the conversation among the top athletes in the West.
Huffstutter finished #1 for his class, #7 overall, and in the 99th percentile among hundreds of competitors at the NFTC event. His 39 inch vert and 4.1 shuttle time put an exclamation point on his day.
West Linn will return as the #1 ranked team in the state and a favorite to win the 6A title. Z will play a crucial role with the loss of D1 LB’s Sam Chitty and Blake Fletcher to graduation. You can expect him to be a TRL player of the year candidate the next two seasons on the defensive side of the ball.
Part of Huffstutter’s overall appeal is his versatility. That said as he will most likely project as a safety at the collegiate level. Zack started three games as a freshman and has the potential of being one of the best defensive players ever to put on a Lions uniform.
With double digit D1 athletes on the roster, the sky is the limit for West Linn this season. Huffstutter will play a prominent role defensively for a team that could be ranked nationally by the end of the year. Talent aside you would be hard pressed to find a group more focused and determined. We will keep you updated as kickoff draws near.
