Players from all over the San Diego Section and other parts of Southern California came together to compete at the Best Coast Showcase this past weekend at Mt. Carmel HS.  Here are some of the other players that stood out at the event.
Desmond Taua (Vista) – Overall Camp MVP – Desmond can play anywhere at the next level from WR, RB, Return and DB.  Smooth overall football player who just flat out makes plays.
Robert Thornton (Mission Hills) – Thornton is a freak athlete with division 1 potential.  He worked out with the WR on the day and showed off his speed and hands to go with his elite frame.
Jahiel Blue-Smith (Chaparral) – Tough as nails DB out of the Southern Section, Blue-Smith was shutting down opposing receivers all day in one on one’s while taking a ton of reps.  His work ethic was on full display.
Noah Arce (Mission Hills) – Elite two-way lineman showed why is one of the best in Southern California.  At 6-4, 260 Arce is athletic enough to play collegiate tight end.  He finished off our day by running the WR gauntlet and catching every pass.
Andrew Johnson (Poway) – 6-4 Tackle Johnson is one of the best offensive lineman in the San Diego Section.  He impressed on the day with his raw strength and work ethic.
Dylan Quinn (Carlsbad) – Quinn is an aggressive OLB with excellent hips and explosion.  Quinn overpowered opponents with his physicality in one on one’s and impressed us during the gauntlet with his hands and speed – could easily end up being  a collegiate safety.
Josh Butler (Poway) – One of the more talented players in the San Diego Section – Butler impressed us with receiving ability.  He was unguardable in one on one’s while making some extremely tough catches.  Whatever school that lands Butler will be extremely lucky.
Brandon Kim (La Jolla Country Day) – Big 6-4 TE had the best hands of the day at the camp.  Kim made some insane catches with his highlight being a 1 handed catch during our competition period.
David Flores (Vista) – Big athletic RB out of Vista is a smooth athlete.  Flores is much bigger than we thought in person and it’s no wonder why people are afraid to tackle him on film.
2021 Raymond Spriggs Jr (Lincoln) One of the best sophomore QB’s on the west coast was dropping dimes on Sunday.  Spriggs Jr. looked great in individiual drills with excellent mechanics and showed off his gun in our longest throw contest.
2021 Berry Buxton (Olympian) Buxton has tremendous length and plays both sides of the ball extremely well.  Look for him to explode on the recruiting scene during the next year.
Adam Barakat (St. Francis – La Canada-Flintridge) Stock on the rise, Barakat has torn up the camp circuit this spring with with 6-2, 200 pound frame.  Barakat will surely be popping up on college radars soon.
Robert Greer (Westview) – Greer is a tackling machine as a 6-5 LB but could also end up playing TE at the next level.  He worked out with both groups on Sunday showing his versatility.
Andrew Wiesley (Westview) – Wiesley was our top passer of the day showing off excellent accuracy and touch.  The Westview QB has good size in person and is poised for a huge senior year.
