One of the top players in Oregon for the 2020 class is Joe Hutson (6-1 180 WR/CB) of Lake Oswego. The Sophomore standout earned all conference honors on both sides of the football in 2017, and will be a leader on what looks to be a legit state title contending Laker team this season.
Hutson hauled in 28 receptions with 5 TDs offensively while making 30 solo tackles, 8 pass deflections and 2 INTs on D. As a Sophomore he was one of only three kids to start both ways. All of this coming in the brutally tough TRL against a host of D1 talent.
The combination of Hutson and fellow 2020 teammates Casey Filkins and Thomas Dukart give LO one of the top trio of athletes on the West coast for their class. All three project as division 1 kids.
The Lakers 2018 schedule is probably the toughest in the state. There are zero weeks off, playing non league matchups against the likes of preseason #1 Clackamas, #6 West Salem and #8 Jesuit.
Joe has stepped up big this off season playing 7v7 ball for the Eforce Oregon Breed. One of Hutson’s most appealing attributes is his ability to play on either side of the ball at the highest level. Colleges like options from a positional standpoint and Joe provides that.
With all of the talent on the Lake O roster you will not be able to double team him. That said as he will win most 1 on 1 battles versus other athletes. Expect to see Hutson listed as a conference POY candidate the next two seasons.
We will keep you updated and are excited to see Joe compete at the Northwest Showcase on June 2nd at Pacific University, against most of the top talent on the West coast.
