One of the top players returning in Washington this upcoming season is Rowan Parmenter (6-1 195 17′) of Wenatchee HS. As much as any athlete we have covered, Rowan projects as someone who will be successful at whatever he decides to pursue in life.
He is the ASB President, currently carrying a 3.9 GPA. His ability to lead resonates on and off the field as he will give the Panthers a chance to win this season. Wenatchee finished last year (3-6) with close losses to West Valley, Eastmont, and Chiawana.
Parmenter set a single game school record with 397 total yards of offense (175 rushing, 222 passing), and 5 TD’s. It won’t get any easier as opponents will key on the dual threat QB and make someone else beat them in 2016. Referencing this upcoming year he says, “Personally my goals include helping my team to a conference title and earning league MVP honors.”
RB Tony Esquivel should off set some of the attention put on Parmenter. He earned 1st team all league accolades after finding the end zone multiple times last season. That said as you will see the Panthers implement more of a run/pass option in 2016, which should play to the teams strengths.
On the recruiting front Rowan has drawn interest from multiple high end academic schools. It is a wait and see from a positional standpoint as he could play multiple spots at the collegiate level. He possesses legit size and unique instincts coming from a football family. Adding , “I really like defense and could see myself playing on that side of the ball in college.”
Look for Parmenter to be a Big 9 Player of the Year candidate in 2016. He epitomizes what every team wants in a quarterback, as his leadership skills speak to who he is as a student athlete.
