It’s never to early to take a look at some of the top talent returning next season. Century finished (3-6) in 2015 but competed with most teams not named Jesuit or Westview. Bill Smith has done a great job with the Hillsboro school over the years. He is a community leader and one most of the most influential head coaches anywhere in the Northwest.

The Jaguars will return one of the state’s most talented duo’s, with 1st team all league two way threat Derek Jackson Jr. (5-11 185 Jr. RB/DB) and 6-5 QB Kyle Chimienti. Jackson had a breakout season looking like one of Oregon’s most versatile athletes. He totaled over 1200 all purpose yards and 13 TD’s (6 rushing, 7 receiving), also excelling defensively.

Chimienti has legit size and should be considered one of the top QB’s in the 2017 class. On the year Kyle threw for 2000 yards and 20 TD’s, while hitting on 63% of his passes, and earning all conference honors.

Separate from these two Century will bring back a talented set of skill kids, which include Brennan Howell (5-9 165 Jr. ATH/CB) and Terrell Jackson (5-7 150 Jr. ATH), Derek’s twin brother. Howell had an outstanding year earning all conference honors on both sides of the football. Terrell did well going for multiple TD’s.

The question for the Jaguars will come up front. The lack of size and depth has been an issue in previous seasons. If they want to replicate years such as 2008 (10-2) or 2012 (8-4), they will need to be able to contain or counter opponents that average 6-3/6-4 and 250 across the board. They will graduate 2nd team all league guard Kyle Morris and all Metro RB/LB Jamarcus Grant.

If the Jags can put together some legit line play they will have a chance in the Metro League. Jackson and Chimienti will come back ranked two of the top athletes in the state at their position. You can expect these two and a talented perimeter to put Century back in playoff position. We will keep you updated as the off season gets underway.
